HI CHACHI@
Hello to all of our BBFF's!! Sorry this is so short and generic, but we don't have much time at all and we wanted to update everyone on Huey's leg. Well, we found out at the vet on Monday that he actually broke the bone in his leg. Badly too I might add. We have no idea exactly what happened, but the vet said it looks like it could have gotten caught in the cage bars or in a toy or something like that. So mommy brought him down to Minneapolis (2 Hours away!!) to see an avian specialist. He said that it might need surgery, so mommy had to leave him there overnight..and boy did she cry on the way home! The rest of us flock was pretty distressed all the next day too cuz our flock leader was gone, and we weren't sure why. Anyway, the vet said he did the best he could at getting it back together, but since it was such a small bone, he couldn't chance pinning it as it might split the whole bone. So right now it is splinted and taped all up. Mommy has to watch and make sure that his toes are not turning black, and if they are...they will have to amputate his foot (whatever that means) Otherwise she has to keep the splint on for about 4 weeks and see how it heals. The vet couldn't get it straight on, so his leg will probably be a little crooked and he's a little worried about nerve damage too. Right now it's just a wait and see, but we'll be sure to keep you all posted. Thank you so much for all your kind words and prayers...I've been reading Huey all of the wonderful messages that you are leaving him and he feels so blessed to have so many wonderful BBFF's that care so much about him and he wanted me to make sure and tell you THANK YOU from him too! Feather hugs and beaky kisses to all! ~Zebers (temporary flock leader) and the flock
