Hi Percy!!!
It is sad, most farmers are creeps! they dont care about animals at all, especially birds. Im a volunteer wild life career and rescuer and the other day late at night i got called out to do a rescue and pick up a gallah who had been hit by a golf ball. I picked the bird up and found out he was a boy and had a bad compound fracture to his wing. I rushed to a friends who is also a career to get him a cage to keep him in over night and put him on heat and with a blanket in his cage and some food and water. I thought he might have to euthenaised as his injuries were quite bad. If a wild animal cannot be rereleased into the wild we have to euthenaise them by law, it is unfortunate and sad but ethically it is the right thing to do, as it is cruel to keep wild caught animals couped up in human confinement. The next day I dropped him of to the vet for observation and check up. The day after I called in and found out that the galah had not been euthenaised and his wing was strapped so I was able to take him home. He's a very cute calm bird even though hes wild. Im so happy he did not have to be euthenaised and cant wait till he is healed up! When his wing heals he will be released back into the wild. He's currently at a friends house who is also a carrer as my avairy had a lorikeet in it who was also in care, he was released today though. Just though you might be interested to know the good news :) Galahs are so cute and beautiful and it made me so happy to know that he could be saved :)
