Zons Rule!
GAME 6 CAGs VS ZONS, BATTLE OF THE GREAT RIVER BIRDIES, GAME 6. With the Zons up 3-2, the CAGs needed a win to extend the series. The CAGs were quiet in the 1st getting only 1 hit, Robbie’s triple. The Zons were more successful scoring 3 runs when Ben scored after Maxie’s HR into left field and Otis’s solo HR. The CAGs would get 2 back in the second with hits from Suzie, SweetPea, Mrs. Besley and Pickles. The Zon defense would then hold the CAGs to just 1 run in the next 3 innings giving up only 4 hits from Casey, Pickles, SweetPea and Pickles. But the CAGs defense was up to the challenge and allowed just 2 runs- a HR from Maxie and 1 run coming from the combined hits of Aries, Kiwi and Poco. The score was 5-3 going into the 6th inning. The action got heated in the 6th with the CAGs scoring 5 runs with singles from Mowgli, Grady, and Pepper, Gizmo’s double and Kelly’s HR to take a 8-5 lead. The Zons would come right back scoring 4 runs with Knuckles, Stubby and Asha’s doubles, Bens single and BabyGirl’s triple to take a 9-8 lead. CAG Amanda would hit a solo HR in the 7th to tie the game but the Zons retook the lead when Otis and Fred scored when Poco hit a HR. The CAGs would tie the game in the 8th when Mowgli scored after Grady hit a HR and Gizmo and Pepper combined for 1 more. With the score tied at 12 going into the 9th, it was any birdie’s game. CAG Katie would open the 9th with a double but the Zon defense would retire the side. The game looked like it would go into extra innings but Zon captain Asha finally let her bat do the talking knocking a HR into center field to win the game for the Zons. Final score: Zons 13, CAGs 12. Zons win the series 4-2. Coming soon: TAGs vs Sennies.
