To The Aussie Flock
You asked how I'm doing; I'm just grand, thank you. It was so nice to hear from you. My mom and family completely understand your forgetting that Jersey is no longer with you...and calling him to his cage, saying good night to him...my family recently lost two precious pets, one to old age, another too early to diabetes. I still hear them say that they almost called for the dogs or wondered why they weren't in the kitchen begging when food was being cooked. Loving those dogs was a 16/10 year habit!! Even my fellow African Grey still calls the one dog's name. It seems odd when the little rat terrier doesn't come running. Dogs, birds, it just plain hurts to lose them. The way you care for Jersey after his death tells me he was a well-loved and cared-for bird in his living days...he had to have been thrilled to be a part of your flock! You asked about my wings; no, they are not clipped. I have arthritis in one joint that keeps that wing from extended far enough to enable me to fly. So, I'm a grounded Macaw! That's why it was easy to take me along on a boat ride on the Mississippi River. The beach that it appears I'm on is merely a sandbar/island in the middle of the Muddy Mississippi! It was a lovely day though and I enjoyed giving the seagulls something to cackle about. They hung around, staring at me until I said "Hello". They then flew away and never came close again. Good luck on that progressive increase in your flock. Based on what I've learned from meeting so many birds on these pages, there isn't a bird that wouldn't make a great addition to your flock. I am rather partial to those Macaws though! We're as funny and loving as we are loud on occasion. It's a very nice package deal, if you ask me! Again, so nice to hear from you. Take care! R('>
