Gazania is adorable! My little conure loves to lie on her back as well. That's awful that the government took your farm! Did the horses all get good homes? I hope you don't think I'm all obnoxious and pushy! I just love my babies very much, and I figure that if I am all strict and nit-picky right off the bat then it will save trouble latter on. I've never heard of all the certification things. Are they just by you? It sounds like you take VERY good care of your birds. Would it be possible to keep the budgies in an aviary instead of a cage? The people who bought my first babies did that because they worked so much. As long as the birds still get out, I don't have a problem with them being in a large aviary much of the time. It's just the tiny little cages that I object to. And just so you know, we did have troubles with Giardia about 6 years ago. It was Chrissy's parents. I took in a pair of birds that were dropped off at the pet store where I worked. (They had been tested for all the big stuff and gram-stained, the giardia just didn't show up.) I was to keep them until they found a permanent home. They had babies, and the babies all had Giardia, and nearly died. No one else caught it, as I quarentined them. Everyone was on huge doses of medicine for over a year, so to the best of my knowledge it is gone. I had an elderly hen with quite literally no immune system during that time (she died last Christmas because of that) and she never once caught it. My vet says that if she didn't get it, we don't have it. The birds that I had at the time are Angel, Kiwi, and Emmy. Everyone else is new. But I just thought you should know. I have never had diseases here since then except for the occasional gram negative with Elly. No one else gets it- she just has a weak immune system for some reason. She doesn't breed and I don't let her near babies. No one else has ever been sick. Angel has a knack for getting hurt in the oddest ways, but that's about it. She once dislocated a toe while in the nest box. (???) Luckily her clumsiness doesn't seem to be hereditary. I noticed the reference to a Bible verse on your page- are you a Christian too?
