And now here I am on the grandest ship in the world havin’ champagne with you fine Parrots! I fig’re life’s a gift an’ I don’t intend on wasting it. You never know what hand you’re gonna get dealt next. Ya learn to take life as it comes at ya. To make each day count.” ~~ Whether reluctantly or not, each parrot at the table raises their glass in a toast “To making it count!” ~~~~ Dinner continues with gay conversation and not-too-few faux pas which Rio is carefully, subtly prompted to handle in a politically correct [make that ‘socially condoned’] manner by both Ruby and Mrs StubbMeister. When all 8 courses have been served, and dinner is complete, the GentlemenBirds retire to the Brandy Room. Rio turns down their invitation to come along. “No thanks. I’m heading back.” But as he kisses Ruby’s wingtip to bid her “Good Night” before leaving, he deposits a small piece of paper between her first two primary flight feathers which says, “Make it count. Meet me at the clock.” |
