`Ü´Ruby & Her Mr Rio ® on a Titanic Adventure~Pt 4
As has been said, Ruby was quite taken with the gathering of familiar faces when she went to meet Rio “at the clock” on Titanic’s main staircase. And the most surprising part of the evening for Ruby was the portion spent in steerage with Rio and the other 3rd class/steerage passengers. Dancing a dance that had no prescribed steps, and therefore Ruby’s objection for “not knowing how” held no credence, she and Rio dazzled the others with their footwork. And when Rio witnessed Ruby taking a long draw on a tall glass of a dark, cool beverage, she answered his questioning look with, “What? You think a first class birdgirl can’t hold her Sweet Tea?!” ~~ The following morning, as Ruby and Romeo were breakfasting together, Romeo commented, “I had hoped you would come to me last night.” Ruby simply replied, “I was tired.” “Your excursions below deck were no doubt exhausting” was his response. And then, with exactly the opposite reaction Ruby had anticipated, Romeo continued, “My dear Ruby, it is with great sadness that I have lost your love to another. But with that also comes the knowledge that this heart of mine can no longer keep you from your true love. With as much dignity and class as I have in my heart I will stand back and allow you to have your true heart’s desire. I hold no hard feelings, your heart must follow its dreams.” Ruby was aghast. Romeo excused himself, and Ruby sat in her chair and wept. ~~ Later that day, Ruby, her Mother, and Romeo were being given a tour of the ship by Mr Pico AndBoos, one of Titanic’s main designers. Ruby had been quick to calculate that there were not enough life boats for everybirdy aboard. When she commented on this, Mr AndBoos quickly replied that “I put in these new type davits, which can take an extra row of boats here. But it was some…that the deck would look too cluttered.” Here Romeo joins the conversation to interject, “Waste of deck space as it is, on an unsinkable ship … … …full of birds!” ~~
