The 2009 BC Baseball season got underway today with the Super Sennies meeting the Brazilian Bombers. The Bombers came ready to play as they shut out the Sennies in the first and scored two runs when Captain Asha hit a HR scoring Stubby. In the 2nd, the Sennies would load the bases with Lola, Lars and Pico only to be left stranded. The Bomber offense would score big with hits from Gunner, Echo, Pocco, Andre, Aries, Emmie, BabyGirl , Ben and a Grand Slam HR by Stubby to take a 10-0 lead. The Sennies would finally get on the board with a solo HR from AZ Mango but Bomber Echo answered with his own HR. In the 4th EA would hit a solo HR for the Sennies as their defense finally stopped the Bombers. The next innings were quiet until the 6th when the Amazon bats got hot again scoring 4 runs when Emmie, Baby Girl and Ben scored when Maxie hit a Grand Slam HR. The game looked like a walk in the park for the Bomber until the 8th inning when the Sennies got hot. NY Senegals LoverBoy, Ea and Mango would load the bases and score when Lola hit a Grand Slam HR. Followed by doubles by Sam, Kiwiwee, Ziggy, and LoverBoy, triples by Nanje and Max and singles from Lars, Pico and Gus, the Sennies scored 11 runs but were still trailing the Zons 18-13. The Bombers would add 4 insurance runs in the 8th with Stubby scoring off of Asha’s HR and Maxie, Gunner and Echo combining for 2 more. Going into the last inning and trailing 22-13 the Sennies needed a big inning. They started with a solo HR from Lars but that was it. Final Score, Brazilian Bomber 22, Super Sennies 14.
