Hi again. In response to your question I have several thoughts. Due to the nature and depth of neglect Sully has experienced, getting him socialized with you and your husband is a great feat in and of itself. Sounds like you are doing all the right things. Of all the Macaws I have known they have proven to me to be very precocious and do not seem to take so kindly to mingling with other birds (unless they were raised together or have a mate.) However, mine will tolerate the other birds and each bird has learned boundaries provided by each other and more importantly, myself. My feeling is that Roxie might be happier and much rewarded (for her efforts at companionship) if she had another conure to play with. I'm only sharing my personal experience strength and hope. I have a beautiful sun conure (Simone) and a couple years later rescued a gorgeous Nanday (Rizzo). These two are inseperable and have been sharing a cage almost from the time I brought Rizzo home. Again, I stress respect, acceptance, and tolerance in my flock . . . and the few birds I have had that could not or would not meld with my philosophy were quickly adopted out. They really seem to understand the dynamics of being part of a flock. Researching their behaviors and instincts in the wild has proven most beneficial for me to facilitate such a diverse grouping of birds! We just can't seem to learn enough! lizzys_birdhouse@yahoo.com I'd love to hear how things progress and any decisions you and your husband make. Your birds are extrordinary and beautiful . . . and I commend your continuous efforts to provide the most nurturing home possible! Bird hugs to all! Liz
