Oh my god- you are SO funny!!! I laughed so hard when I read about your "protest"- maybe you'll get into the paper! Seriously, that is the funniest thing I've heard in a long time! No new pet-sitting yet, but I've been very busy with my old clients anyway: this week I've been getting up at 5:30, going to work, go to school from work at 9, school until 6:30 (I'm supposed to get out at 5:30 but we have a project due tomorrow...), back to work, then home around 9. I don't like it. I talked to one of my regular client's next-door neighbor about sitting their four animals (a dog, two cats, and a rabbit), and when I told them it was $30-/day they said "Well we heard you charge $25..." Give me a break!!! The going rate for professional pet-sitters in Ann Arbor is $75-/day and that's just for an hour and a half a day(three half-hour visits), I spend at least four to six hours a day with my charges! Not to mention the grooming, treats, and toys I provide for free or the fact that I don't charge extra for getting their mail or watering plants... (Can you tell I'm a little insulted?). My teacher's softened up quite a bit now that he's seen some of my work (which blows away most of the other class- because I'm better trained, NOT nessisarily more talented!). I had an asthma attack yesterday while cleaning up my silkscreen and he made me go home, saying he'd get someone else to clean it for me- I couldn't beleive it! I was also thrilled, because it was already 6:20 and I had to get back to let Nina-dog out to pee! Lucy-goose is dooing great- she's a little devil-cat (not really...), windy is very nesty- she goes in and out of the nest box a lot, and tries to get Sky to mount her (she CHASES him around the cage!). I don't know if she's laid any eggs, I don't want to upset her by peeking.Yes I'm going to the bird show- it's 10-4 I usually go at 10- once I missed out on getting a lineolated parakeet because the person in front of me bought them all (you snooze, you lose), but I'm thinking of I go later in the day I might get better deals from desperate vendors... What time would you go? |
