Good morning! Thats great that you talk!Mom wishes I did. I make funy sounds and I also do the kissing sounds. Kissing mom is one of my fav pastimes. Mom had the same problem with finding a dusky. She really wanted one, but there weren't many around. She didn't find any rescues and there were not many local breeders who had them. Icarus was bought from a specialty bird store. They were a bit pricey, they offered no guarantess, warantees, or banding on the birds. Icarus had a twisted back toe that she had a vet look at within 3 days of buying him and they claimed it could not be fixed, but that he would live a normal life without it functioning. The store said he was born with it like that. She kept him and things worked out fine, but goes to show that sometimes those specialty bird stores aren't always great either. I recommend breeders if you can't find a reccue bird you want. Mom did find me at Petco however and despite the fact that I was overpriced, she was very happy with me. She went to my store often for supplies and kept seeing me every visit hanging in my cage, playing around. Whenever she approached me I would smoosh up against the glass as if to say "hey, wanna play?" My plumage was bad because I had a wing/tail biting habit, but I did it out of boredom since no one but the staff played with me and I didn't have a lot of toys. (I quit that as soon as she got me) She finally asked to play with me one day and well you know the rest! I was too playful, quiet and friendly for her to resist!...Back then! lol (Now I'm territorial and noisy.) I came banded, they offered a 30 day trial, said that I was vet checked regularly and was hand fed and played with a lot until I was transplanted to that store....All the other birds in my clutch were also separated and disbersed to other local Petcos........I found one of my brother's on here! Caymus the Dusky is from my clutch. He is from Orlando, with the same hatch date and was sold at a Petco also! They told us that the guy who was raising the birds was amazing and played with them all the time. He was actually the one who taught me how to kiss! Cool huh?! So yeah, if you see or hear from Caymus, he's good people. Well, have a great day up in ME. It's the weekend so I'm sure mom's folks are up there right now too. Mom is oging out with some co-workers today for the awesome Sweet Tomatoes buffet and Pirate's Cove mini golf. Maybe I could be her parrot! Argh!
