Hello Kittie-Friends! It's nice to see your sweet faces again. Summertime has managed to fleece me out of a lot of BC time- it's those weeds that seem to be doing it. The Lawn Wars continue! I'm glad tho that the grass continues to grow. It means we continue to be blessed with enough rain to keep it green. I know there are some here on the BC who are worried about drought conditions. Brown grass is not as pretty as green grass. Since I last wrote to you there's been a bit of excitement here at my place. I could've done without it, to be honest. Back on the 18th of June a wicked storm blew through at 4 in the morning with enough force to rip a building just behind my Bird Barn out of the ground and plow it into a huge tree just 15' on the other side of the wall where I sleep. The llama that lives in a portion of that building was left standing without shelter through the remainder of a storm some say had tornado-like strength. (According to what my parronts saw at other places, it could easily have been a tornado that blew through.) The roof to my summer home sustained only minimal damage, which was incredibly lucky considering that the flying building drub over my roof! Once the howling wind let up a tad, mom rushed out to our building to see if we were ok. Not a one of us had appeared to move, not a single feather was on the ground (a sure sign that we'd been startled and had what we call 'night frights'). It was later discovered that my beak was bruised, an indication that I did bump into a wall rather hard. The bruised spot is about half way down my beak now, proof that the beak grows pretty fast. All is well here now, the shed finally having been removed from the tree and plans for the new one on the drawing board. In the meantime the llama has to come into my barn when rain is on the horizon. That beast always tries to eat our bird food! Lucky for me, he can't reach the millet that's clipped in the branches above his head. Well, now that I've chattered away for an eternity! See why I'd rather life just remained boring? Boring is GOOD! Hope yours is pleasantly exciting, you know, with things like CAT NAPS and good food. That's exciting! G <") |
