Ava is doing better; she is now in a spare cage I had, with some lovely ladders and rope swings! She always comes to the front of the cage when I come into the room and talks to me and ocks her head to listen. It is so cute! I really think she would like a friend, though. I still had them all together in the same cage, with the door open all the time. So I do not really know what went wrong. It did seem a bit territorial, so maybe was just scared that he would be shoved in to a corner, so he shoved everybody else into corners! I have emailed Phoenix Landing (rescue) and asked them if they have a disabled bird or very quiet bird that would make a good friend for Ava. Yes, I heard losing six drops was too much blood loss for a budgie... or maybe it was nine. I will have to look that up again. Anyway, they are so small, any blood is a big issue! I can imagine your cockatiel would be a bit tired after losing that much blood! Ava lost quite a bit, which left her VERY tired. She almost looked pale, which is hard to do with bright yellow feathers! |
