Hello Rubio
Thanks for the information on the collar. We know that Susan's problems are not due to her diet. She gets fresh vegetables and fruits every morning. She is also eating 100% natural foods by Goldenfeast and is eating Bird Paradise specials blend for the eclelctus parrot. Thank you for all of the information. We are thinking that Susan is a habitual plucker (it sounds like you are, too); and we may need to take her to the vet and get a collar like yours. Susan had gorgeous feathers during the summer months and then started plucking as soon as the winter months and dry heat started to come on in the house. She is also molting. We are thinking (hoping) that she plucks during the dry heat season and because of her molts; and will stop during the summer months and get gorgeous feathers again. I suppose time will tell. (We adopted Susan from a foster home in June; and her feathers were just starting to come back in at that time.). Meanwhile, Mom has tried all sort of things. She even eliminated all colored toys from Susan's cage (thinking she may have an allergy to the dyes in the toys.) Some birds are allergic to the dyes used in the wood toys. Susan also gets daily baths in the shower and with "Avian RX Solution". The baths seems to help some, but they have certainly not eliminated the problem. It sure is frusterating trying to figure out what works!!! We hope that you stop plucking at your feathers, soon, too. You are a beautiful bird! Thanks for stopping in to visit.
