hi jb
sorry for a late reply but i got your question regarding how it would be to own a military macaw. when we first met her, she was very hostile toward every one and lungeing at us and not friendly but i (adam) had a gut feeling she was a nice bird at heart and needed someone to the time and love she needed. i did just that and took it slow and nice with her a too, and sure enough she warmed up to me very fast, ive had her for about 5 months now and i can touch her and play with her all i want, she has learned to step up, i kiss her, play with her beak, take her out in public. she has been very good to me, now my wife (melissa) she never liked from the start and trys to attack her every chance she gets, she is getting better with her, but she may never really accept her, for what ever reason, she just doesnt like girls. she is definately a one person bird, she will tolerate other people, but im the only one she trust and loves. she is not very loud, or messy. i do not regret getting her at all, militarys are a very good bird.
