With nary a moment to linger over breakfast, an attendant announced the readiness of the waiting throng of well wishers so, balancing my crown on my head, I proceeded to the State Room where I was greeted by the accolades of many dear friends. The fine 'Tiel Romeo, the gracious Grendel and his flock, as well as Cleo and his friends were among the first. The smiling Ethyl was a delight to greet as she proclaimed this day "KIng Alfie Day". As Scooter approached, I noted that she appeared uncomfortably warm and spoke with an attendant (Rainbow) about seeing to the adjustment of the temperature in the room. I wanted my guests to be as comfortable as possible. The well wishes of the young Martini, Mayo & his beautiful flockmates, Macalune, as well as Rocket and his impressive family added to the joy of the morning as did the congratulations from the darling Emily, the lovely Kacey and her sister, and Gus and his sweet sister. An added delight was the best wishes from the Castle's previous Queen Meiko as well as those from Prince Baby, the Zon destined to inherit the throne after me. A surprise visit from the lovely Miss Maxie the Wonderbird served to heighten the jubilation of the hour. Though it seemed hardly but a few minutes had past, I suddenly realized it was the noon hour as the Castle Sentries trumpeted the arrival of the Royal Chariot, sent forth by Sir Romeo. With a wave of appreciation to my morning guests, I was then carried off towards the Royal Gardens to where the finest of lunches was to be served on the Grand Gazebo overlooking Christy Lake. In route, the cheers of the masses were heard, above them all, the voices of HRG Finnegan and Miss Lucy Blue HIP-HIP-HOORAY! YOU'RE BIRD OF THE DAY! HAVE LOTS OF FUN ON YOUR DAY IN THE SUN! Joining Jenny and I for lunch was the lovely Miss Sugar, the dear friend who dared to nominate me as a future king. Her friend (and mine) Ceasaur was also seated at the table that overlooked the lake and it's family of Royal Swans with their six young cygnets. A finer spread could not have been dreamed of, I assure you. |
