Grey Day for the Knights ~ The BC Wonder Wings flapped the Knights in Grey into a 30 – 17 loss in Birdie BazeBol today at KEVLAR Memorial Stadium. The 1st innin’ saw pretty even matched play b’tween the two teams (if ya don’t count th’openin’ Home Run by Toby for th’Wings) with 4 runs apiece. (Poirot smacked a Homer too; it jus’ wasn’t the openin’ pitch o ‘ the game’s all. Credit where credit’s due, right?) The 2nd innin’ was right on pace for th’Wings. But the Knights had a black out. La Roux’s bat saw the Homer this time for the Wings. Score at th’end o’ the 2nd innin’: 8 - 4, Wings. 3rd innin’ the Wingin’ continued, but the Knights seemed more interested in Flyin’ Out than hittin’ anybirdy IN. In the 4th, the Knights got tired o’ the dark an’ flipped the switch 7 times for a score o’ 11 – 11 after 4 innin’s. (The Knights had Triples by Kelly, Poirot ‘n’ Tahoe, plus some good solid offense by the rest o’ the squad.) The Knights watched while WonderWing Ziggy toured the bases on his openin’ Home Run an’ various Singles, Doubles, and Triples that gave the Wings a 15 – 11 lead after 5. Then … THen … THEN … The BC Wings showed ev’rybirdy what a Wonder they really were t’day! Home Runs by Pico, Pedro an’ Lars; Triples by La Roux an’ Ziggy; Doubles by Max an’ Gus; Singles by Gus, Toby, Buddy an’ Rocket; an’ some fancy foot ‘n’ bat works from the rest o’ the battin’ order gave them Wonder Wings a total o’ 14 [Count ‘em … FOURTEEN] runs in the’ 7th. But the Valiant Knights were not to be shut out for th’innin’ … Nosirreebob! Poirot, Kirby ‘n’ Tahoe put Runs up on the score board for a 29 -14 score at th’end o’ 7; Wings on top. An’ the Knights didn’t give up there either! Don’t you b’lieve it! Rusty, Pepper ‘n’ Shadow scored runs for th’Knights in the last 3 innin’s o’ play; with hits from Kelly, Poirot ‘n’ Shadow that never made it Home. In th’meanwhile, the Wonder Wings added 1 more run in the last 3 innin’s, for a final score o’ BC Wonder Wings 30 an’ th’Knights in Grey 17. You Cheerleaders are doing a great job! Keep it up ~ GO BC WONDER WINGS!! Your Co-Captains, Sam & Pico |
