Hi, it's me, Chilli
I’m feeling much better, now. Thank you all so very, very much for all your prayers for me. I am humbled by all of your love.
Well, let me tell you about my day. Mom and dad got up early and took me for a long ride in the car, to a place called an animal hospital. I’d never been in one before. During the ride, I sat on the bottom of my cage, holding onto the grate so I wouldn’t go flying when dad hit a bump.
When we got to the hospital, dad took me into this big room. There were lots of other live things in there. Dad said they were dogs. I had never seen a dog before. They sure do slobber a lot. There were other birds in there, too. I wanted to talk to them but they ignored me. How Rude!
Finally it was my turn to go into a small room with mom and dad. A human girl that I don’t’ know came into the room and looked at me. She said I was cute. Well, she grabbed me and put me on a thing she called a scale. Well, I promptly hopped out and landed on the floor. Dad picked me up and put me back in my cage. She said my weight was 43 grams. Then she left and I was alone with mom and dad, again.
A few minutes later, this man human came in and said he was the doctor. He looked at me and, once again, I was grabbed and taken out of my cage. But, he was gentle with me and checked to see if I had an egg inside me. He said he didn’t feel an egg but wanted to check further so he took me for an X-ray.
I was put on a cold table and this big thing with a great big eye came down close to me. I tried to get away but I was being held. That scared me so much that when I was put back into my cage I was panting again. Then he took me back into the room with mom and dad. I was real glad to see them.
I guess that an X-ray is a picture of my insides because the doctor was showing dad things inside me, like my heart, liver, air sacks and other stuff. He said there was no eggs inside me but some may be developing in the early stage. He showed dad where something is pushing on my air sacks. That’s why I have to pant when I move around a lot. The doctor said it might be an infection.
After the doctor explained everything to mom and dad, he said he would give me a broad spectrum antibiotic and s shot to stop the egg production. A shot? What’s that? I thought. Well, I found out. The doctor grabbed me again and took this real sharp thing and stuck it in my breast. “OUCH” Boy did that hurt! Then, while he still had me in his hand, he took this pink stuff and squirted it into my mouth. “YUUUUCK”! There are no words to describe what it tasted like. Then he put my back into my cage and I ran up to my perch and stayed on my perch for the rest of my visit.
