Another epic day
To make a long story short as this won't let me type as much as I'd like- A woman offering to donate a cage to us called the bird store. This was the result:
- "I called Casa and they said your story is an absolute lie! They said Abby is too sick to leave at this time but when she does, she will go with her cage that is full of toys, and that she will be provided for her whole life. I'm not sure of your motive but shame on you."

My reply:
- "I just got back from Casa La Parrot. Dawn explained to me that it was a miscommunication on her part, that they actually paid the nursing home $700 for Abby, and they have the paperwork. She said that the nursing home could have sold Abby as a breeder for $1200, and that Casa La Parrot could have as well. Though that is the 3rd different story I've been given by her, and the fact they would even consider selling a very plucked and stressed bird as a breeder, makes me question the store's motives even more. Her cage "full of toys"- it's not full of toys. There are 3 cheap toys in there now that Dawn just put in today herself, and they are not even what Abby really needs. Abby is also not sick. The "medicine" they are giving her is called Pluck No More, and it's supposed to help birds stop plucking even though it is not a proven thing, and many people I've spoken to that have used it, said it didn't work. Yes, Abby will be provided for, for the rest of her life, BY ME. Still, $700 for a very plucked, mutilating, and stressed bird is ridiculous, and even tho Dawn told me they are not trying to make money off of her, that's exactly what they are doing. The best thing that can be done for Abby, is to have her out of that store where I can give her 24/7 attention and care, and get her to an actual avain vet. These are the facts, you can call me a liar and judge me all you want to, but the fact remains that I AM telling the truth and I know I am.

Even though you were naive enough to even think that a store that's ruining a bird would actually admit to ruining it, and you are now thinking I am a horrible person, I want to thank you for calling them because once they found out how serious I am, and that I'm involving other people, I finally got some straight answers out of them, and they are being the nicest to me they've ever been."

I know dealing with people like this comes with the territory of rescue, but it still astounds me the crap people will put you thru.
