Hi Athena
Hey, so sorry to hear about your first home, but I'm glad you have finally found a good home. Definitely giving you a vote because you are so pretty and remind my girl of her first budgie when she was a child. I do have a suggestion that your owner could try. See, I used to be awful afraid of things (including my girl) so she checked around for ways to help me become a happier and more interactive bird. She found a wonderful book on clicker training for birds that has helped me come out of my shell. Even though the primary reason for the book is to teach us birds tricks, it also claims to help fearful, older, scared, and/or depressed birds become happy and relaxed. A bird does not have to be "tame" (use to or like human contact) for the techniques to work. The book goes over all of that and ways to make the technique work for birds who cannot be handled. My girl has used the methods from the book on me and they have worked so far. So if you would like to look into it the book she has is called Getting Started Clicker Training for Birds by Melinda Johnson. It is highly informative and rather inexpensive (Amazon is where my girl found it for about $12). My girl wishes you the best and says if you ever have any tips to share with her, she would be delighted to hear them. Just stop by my page.
