Hi Rocket!
Zebers here for my frother Huey. First of all, mommy wanted me to thank Miss Lucy Blue for letting all of our friends here on BC know what is going on with Huey...we haven't been on for awhile but Lucy's mommy saw my mommy's post on facebook (mommy seems to think that facebook is more important than BC!! Unbelievable!) Yes it is true. Our dear Huey got another bad injury. Mommy had a couple of the birds out and was keeping an eye on us like she always does when we're out at the same time, but it only took 5 seconds and our newest frother Babe attacked Huey and hurt him quite badly. He has two compound fractures in the humorous bone of his left wing (that means the bone is sticking out of the skin). It was very scary and we didn't expect him to make it through the night, but as you know, our Huey is a fighter and he's really doing great! Better than anyone expected. The other bad part to this story is that Dr Melissa is in Australia right now!! So we don't even have a vet that we know! Thankfully, mommy found a very nice vet that saw Huey right away after his accident and took very good care of him. We got in contact with Dr Melissa through e-mail and she gave us the name of a very good birdie vet in St. Paul. His name is Dr. Redig and he works at the Raptor Center at the University of Minnesota, so ALL he does is birds and his specialty is orthopedics! So mommy is quite relieved about that. So Huey's surgery is set for this Tuesday the 22nd of February. Right now he is resting comfortably in the incubator right next to mommy's bed. He's eating like a trooper and he even started screaming again today! That made mommy very happy to hear!! He's in very good spirits despite his injuries and he wanted me to tell you thank you so very, very much for all of the love and prayers. Mommy reads him every single one of your messages and it's definitely helping him feel better! Thank you for being so kind and remembering us even when we haven't been around much lately. And please don't be upset at our newest frother here on BC. He was just being a bird and wasn't trying to be mean...mommy shouldn't have left big and little birds out together! PLEASE learn from her mistake and be very very careful getting out and playing together with your flockmates! We love you so very much!! Please continue to pray for Huey and I promise to keep you updated as he continues to heal. Beaky kisses ~Zebers
