How much an untame conure cost 20 years ago in CA
Elissa,
Sorry so long to answer your question.......Flapper was purchased in a pet store, open banded. He was $49.99. Although it seems cheap, I have since understood (along time ago....20 years now) that the cost is alot for the bird and the humans who adopt them when they are puchased imported and open banded. The cost of taking the bird out of its intended environment and the cost of taming them and dealing with what are their normal "real bird" traits from the wild.

I don't recommend purchasing ANY birds now that are in the pet trade. If I were in the market for a bird, I would look for one that needs a new home. (I have a Congo grey that I adopted in 1997 but the last bird I purchased was in 1991)
