Food for thought...
I know you are hurting, and I wish I could make it better, but I come with some food for thought. I'm certain that Autumn is a wonderful birdie, just like Tink is a wonderful cat. (Stay with me here, it will make sense in a moment.) Three years ago, a neighbor of mine was in search of the perfect family pet. She searched high and low and finally found a beautiful American Ragdoll cat. The cat had been a prize winning show cat and a breeder. She was expensive, but so good with the kids and just had the sweetest personality. Fairly soon after Tink had joined the household, it became apparent that one family member was allergic. They tried to work around it. They bought air cleaners. They bought air scrubbers. They treated the allergies. Eventually the problems were so severe that the poor allergic fellow had to have surgery to remove the scar tissue! (It only took 6 months to reach that point.) Well, they were getting ready to move and asked us to keep Tink until they found a new house in their new location. We obliged. Two days before they left, the mom came over and asked if we would be willing to keep Tink forever. Sometimes a pet just cannot fit a family. When that happens the only thing a family can do is give the pet a chance to find that perfect fit. It will happen. Even though we didn't want another cat, Tink has turned out to be a "purrfect" fit. You are giving Autumn the opportunity to find her forever space and I know you were careful in selecting the pet store to facilitate that transition. Autumn's next family will have the information that you did not-- that Autumn is a real talker -- in bird lingo, that is! Don't feel badly! V2u and ciao for now!
