Hi
I am RUBY, a Lutino cockatiel. Mom's heart is full of sadness as she blogs for me. She too lost a bird never to be found. In 2000, on Christmas Eve Day, Mom's beloved Holly, a green-cheek, was hanging out under Mom's shirt as usual. Mom noticed that the corn was gone on the tree for the squirrels. She walked out and as she raise her arm to put a new corn on the nail, she felt Holly move. (Mom thought that she was clipped) She quick grabbed her shirt but it was too late Holly flew out. Mom and Dad worked all day trying to get her back.We live in Mi and that day there was knee high snow and 15 below zero temperatures. Mom and Holly had a special whistle and Mom called and whistled and Holly whistled back but she wouldn't budge from the tallest Maple tree in the yard. Mom and Dad sat outside Talking, pretending not to be freaked out and had Holly's cage right next to them. Once the sun started to dip she suddenly flew from the tree and Mom never saw her again. She also hopes that someone found her and gave her a good home. Mom advertised on the radio, two newsparers and put posters all over town. Nothing. Not one sinle call. Today she would be almost 16. She was a Christmas gift from Dad in 1995 and she had been hatched the spring before. Mom was really looking for a white faced cockatiel but Holly CHOICE MOM. She jumped, weaved and bobbed all over her cage to get Mom's attention. It was love at first sight. Ozzy is a green cheeked conure in our flock now but being male he isn't as affectionate. Mom will NEVER forgive herself for her carelessness that probably cost her beloved Holly's life. So, we KNOW your pain. We hope that you are reunited but if not, that he has a loving home.
