Hi BeGe
Mom volunteers at a local wildlife center, and the pics are of some of the patients and some of the education animals (Those who can't be released).
Today we are going to talk about the 2 ducks in the pic below. Can't see 2? Look closely! The little yellow duck is named Quackers, and she was donated to our education program by the National Aviary in 2002. She's quite old for a duck, don't you think? She is a call duck, a domestic relative of wild mallards. She is taken on education programs and to information tables, where she always makes a big splash, heehee. Due to her advanced age, though, Quackers has now retired and stays in at the center most of the time. She has a foot that is withering, but can still get around, and loves her pond. The bigger duck in the front is called Moochie. Moochie came to us a few years ago (2007) after a trip from Kentucky. A family had purchased a dozen eggs at a roadside stand, and Moochie hatched from one of them in the car! They brought him to the center where he's lived ever since. Moochie is a hybrid duck, part mallard and part Peking duck, we think. He is very friendly and loves grapes as a special treat. Shortly after hatching, Moochie fell in love with Quackers, so they have lived together since 2007. They can both go outside on nice days to the enclosure with a pond, so they can cool off. Here's a vote and a hug today, Willie
