I can help
O.K. you are just a baby (I was only 4 months old when My mommy was "allowed" to take me home - she had to wait a whole six weeks but she visited me three times a week).

You need lots of mom and dad time. Classical radio by your cage. Lots of "Step up". It will take you about 21 days to become acclimated to your new home. Then about 6 months till you stop the weekly "nailing of mom and dad". After about 6 months you will be much better but still nail mom and dad every once in a while (I am 7 now and I nail mom or dad about once a year - usually they admit it's my fault)

You MUST have daily handling - that is the key

I'm out with my dad in the morning for about 3 hours on my perch. In the evening my mom puts me on a sink post to watch her prepare dinner and I'm out for at least 2 hours.

Important things: you need a midday nap, you must have twelve hours of Darkness to sleep in. It's winter now so I go to bed at 7pm and get up about 8am. If you are in a room with lots of lights have your mom and dad cover your cage. If you need more info visit me.

I am so proud to be bird of the day! I dedicate this award to my beautiful girlfriend Sunni who lives in North Carolina. Although she is far away I love her so much my birdie heart is full.

I will take time today to meditate on how wonderful the world can be for all of us with FEATHERS, Fur, scales, shells and tails. It is truly a fantastic place to be because we have wonderful two leggers who care so much about us to put our photo's and stories out there to the world. I give thanks to all the wonderful rescue organizations and shelters who take us in, love us, find us homes, and care for those of us who cannot care for ourselves. Also I am so thankful that there are shelter mom's and dad's who give so much of themselves to make sure that those of Fur, Feathers, hooves, scales and Shells can have a better live.

Thank you so much

HESHE McCoy-Huston
