VIDEO: Shake Hands

Your bird will meet and greet new friends when it masters the parrot handshake.

By Tani Robar

An alternative to the Wave trick, the Shake Hands trick teaches your bird to offer its other foot as if extending it for a handshake.

My cockatoo, Harley, shakes only my husband's hand. My husband says "shake hands" and Harley does it. However, he holds my hand when he is sleepy.
