Masturbation

Masturbation is a common behavior in pet birds.

DEFINITION OF MASTURBATION

This perfectly normal behavior is beautifully explained by Dr. Marge Wissman in the BirdChannel’s medical index.

If your pet is showing signs of illness or you notice changes in your bird’s behavior, take your pet to the nearest veterinarian or an emergency pet clinic as soon as possible.

My Sun Conure "I call it making love to my hand" does this quit frequently. I just think of it as a release that he needs an don't stop or scold. I just kiss him on the neck and head. He is very prescious to me. He is 12.

My lovebird is in love with a rope toy. I was worried because he would always regurgitate for it and rub against it.
