Do you have a best friend, or a really great friend? How did you meet them? Well, I have a new really great friend named Elena and I met her because of our birds!

Elena had a nanday conure named Zack, and it was because of Zack that we got to be friends. Elena is my age and her bird Zack was her best friend. She could not keep him any more because some of her relatives came to live in her house and their life just got too crazy. Elena’s mom didn’t think Zack was getting enough attention, so a couple of weeks ago, Elena, her mom, and Zack came to our house to check out our sanctuary.

Well, they thought our sanctuary was a great place for Zack, and they decided to give him to us. Because Zack had plucked out all his chest feathers, we put him in our house in a private, new bird room. The great part about having him there is that I get to see him all the time. He’s really funny because he says “Pretty face,” which is about the only place he has all his feathers!

Elena really loves animals and she also likes activities because her mom is a party-planner, so Elena decided to be a volunteer at our sanctuary. Now every week, Elena comes to Arcadia and helps me take of our birds. We make sure all the birds have fresh food and water, and fill all the water storage bottles in every building. But the very best part for Elena is that she gets to visit Zack every week! She really enjoys seeing him, and we are even starting to teach him some tricks! The best part for me is that I have a new friend who really shares my love of birds.

I met a friend by having birds too! Her name is Jenna. She has two budgies, I have two cockatiels, two budies( two died), one chick(died), one canary, and two lovebirds( one of them died).
