Birds and Summer

You know how fun summer can be. For kids, summer vacation means no school, and I like the combination of warm weather and no school! Plus, you have even more time to spend with your bird. But there are some things you need to look out for with your birds during the summer.
Shade And A Pool If your bird’s cage is right by a window where sun can get in and you can’t move the cage, you have to be careful your bird it doesn’t get too hot. You can take a cage cover and put it over the half of the cage that is facing the sun. That way, the bird can see out the back, but is shaded.
You can also give your bird a little shallow pool of water. Put it at the bottom of the cage in a shady part, and leave it there. When it gets hot, your bird can go in the water.
It will have some shade and will also have a new pool. Also, get birdie tent/hut for your birds. They are great shade and at night, birds love to go in them.
Food And Water Not only is your bird important, but so is its stuff. If your bird’s food is too close to its water, move one of the two because if your bird dunks the food in the water, the bird’s food will go bad.
Water gets very hot on warm days if it is sitting in the sun, and needs constant changing! The hot sun can make the water bottle slimy and ruin it, so be sure to clean it out at least once a day.
These are some important tips and things you need to do during the summer. Keep them in mind on those hot summer days!
