Meet Colee

By Caitlyn
Follow in the adventures of Flip, Rabbit and Caitlyn in the Fledgling Blog.

I wanted to tell you about another bird in our sanctuary. Her name is Colee, and she is a black-capped conure, just like Flip. The only difference is that Flip is just a little bit bigger than Colee and, unlike Flip, Colee yells a little bit. But she is still really sweet. So now I’m going to let Colee tell you about her life!

Hi, I’m Colee and I’m a black-capped conure. I just recently arrived at Arcadia Bird Sanctuary and I am enjoying it already.  Now, I’ll bet you’re wondering about my story. I came here because my owners were moving and couldn’t take me with them.  The trip was going to be long so our owners felt that it would not be fair to me. I was sad to leave them and they were sad to leave me. But lots of good things have happened to me since I’ve been here.

Because I’m new here, I get to live in a special building with all the other new birds called a quarantine building.  They all seem pretty nice but some really do scream a lot and I think one of the Amazons bit a worker really hard last week!  I came with my "brother," Simon, who is a Congo African grey. Now we are used to living here and it’s really good. Everyday, some nice people come in to take care of us. They talk and play with us all and keep our cages clean. Everyone here is super nice! When I get vet checked and come out of quarantine, I will get to be part of the Arcadia Bird Sanctuary educational program that Caitlyn’s grandma does. I can’t wait for that because then I get to go to schools and all sorts of neat places.  We even go to military bases. I love Arcadia. It’s the best place a bird could wind up! Bye.

So, there is Colee. What a chatter box she is! Next month I’ll try and pick a bird that doesn’t talk as much! Or maybe I’ll teach you how to make another toy?  What do you want to see? Well, no matter hat it is, I hope you are as exited for next month as I am, because its going to be really great! Bye
