Unfortunately, I am going to be moving soon. The good news is that we are going to be closer to my mom’s work.  The bad news is that I can’t take Flip with me. I am sure going to miss him. I know sometimes some of you might be in the same situation. So if this is something you have to or might have to go through, take these tips and it might be easier to say goodbye.

Find a friend or family member who likes birds and see if they could be the new home for your bird.  If you start to look when you first find out you are moving you will have a better chance to find the right place.

If you can’t find a permanent home, talk to your vet.  If you don’t have one for your bird, look in your phonebook for a vet that treats birds.  Sometimes someone in the vet office will love to give your bird a home.

If you aren’t moving far away, see if you can visit your bird when you get the chance.  It may be sad when it’s time to leave but, just remember, this might be the best place for him!

I am leaving Flip with my grandma and he will still have all of the attention he has now because Flip is as much a family bird as he is my bird.

My friend Elena gave us a bird named Zack. Zack is a nanday conure and she loves him but
Zack couldn’t stay in her family. Elena now lives very close to our sanctuary and gets to visit Zack often. But in mid-December, she is moving to Georgia and won’t be able to see Zack much anymore. She is really sad, but sometimes things happen!

So if you are in this situation, just follow these tips and maybe it will be easier. I hope so, because I know what you are going through. Bye!
