Meet Isabella
Follow in the adventures of Flip, Rabbit and Caitlyn in the Fledgling Blog.
This month, I want to introduce you to another bird that lives at Arcadia Bird Sanctuary. Her name is Isabella, and here she is!
“Hi, my name is Isabella. I am a Pacific parrotlet and I am 4 years old. I came to Arcadia because my owner’s husband got very sick and they couldn’t keep me anymore. I am really happy here in my new home. I live in a large aviary with several other birds: three budgies, two finches and three canaries. We all get along great and even have learned each other’s languages and can talk to each other!
I get to go out and meet a ton of new people all the time, because I am part of the educational program at Arcadia. During the summer, I went to a neat park in New York City every week. I let all the little kids hold me and some even put me on their heads! That was really funny and I liked it because I got to preen them. So many people took my picture I must be really famous now! Even some kids who were afraid of birds held me and I liked it a lot when they smiled and laughed.
I learned to do some tricks and can ride a little car. That’s fun. And when we do a presentation, I like to watch other birds do their tricks, too.
Even though my name is Isabella, Caitlyn likes to call me Izzy, but her Grandma says Izzy is a lizard name and she calls me Bella-Bella.”
So that’s Isabella. See you next month!
