Bye-Bye, Birdie!
By Caitlyn
Follow in the adventures of Flip, Rabbit and Caitlyn in the Fledgling Blog.
Hi, everyone. This is going to be my last article, so I though about how to make it a special one. I figured we could take a walk down memory lane and remember some of the articles we shared. Do you remember …?
All the jokes we learned?
“What do you get when you cross an African grey parrot with a telephone?” “A walkie talkie!”
When you met Rabbit and Tango?
They were both so funny! Rabbit, the Goffin’s, loves the blue faucet light and Tango, the macaw that was abused, still likes to bite me.
All the toys we made?
The straw spider, the fun bottle bell and the coffee filter piñatas that were such fun to make.
When I wrote about my first American Federation of Aviculture conference?
My first AFA conference was in Los Angeles. It was so much fun, even though it took us more than 10 hours to get there and we had to sit in Minnesota for 5 hours with Flip. But everyone wanted to see Flip! And now I am a lifetime member of AFA.
All the bird club meetings I go to?
The Real Macaw, where I have gone since I was about 4 years old; the Staten Island Bird Club; the Long Island Parrot Society (LIPS), which is a 3-hour drive but when we get there is tons of fun; and lots of others all over the place.
And the bird marts, too?
From North Carolina to New Hampshire, I got to do a lot of traveling because of my love of birds.
I have lots of memories from these past three years of writing for BIRD TALK magazine and I have had a lot of fun researching and learning more about birds. Thank you for all your support and for reading my column and blog through the years!
The fledgling is fully feathered and ready to leave the nest. Bye-Bye, Birdie!
Goodbye from Caitlyn, Rabbit and Flip!
