Snowball the Taco Bell Spokesbird

By Laura Doering
Join in on Laura's fun and experiences of bird ownership, and share in her adventures as the editor of BIRD TALK, the world’s most widely read pet bird magazine, in Wayward Feathers.

Snowball, the dancing sulphur-crested cockatoo, continues his world pop culture domination. He’s now spokesbird for Taco Bell’s new “Pina Colada Frutista Freeze.” Here he is dancing to “If You Like Pina Coladas.”

Before you start thinking it ironic for a cockatoo (native to Australia and New Guinea) to be pitching south of the border cuisine, what’s really ironic is that Taco Bell’s previous “pitch pet” was a Chihuahua declaring, “Yo quiero Taco Bell;” a parrot could actually say that phrase. I hope people don’t start thinking that Snowball’s moves are digitally created, because we all know that Snowball in the real deal.

How great is it that a bird from a Rescue has opened the eyes of so many people. Dancing in TV commercials and advancing our knowledge of birds in the Lab. Only in America!
