At The Bird Store
By Laura Doering
Join in on Laura's fun and experiences of bird ownership, and share in her adventures as the editor of BIRD TALK, the world’s most widely read pet bird magazine, in Wayward Feathers.
Some coworkers head to Starbucks for a pick-me-up break; the Bird Talk team heads to Omar’s Exotic Birds in Lake Forest, California. We try to time it for when it’s lunch time for the birds. The store is transformed from birds playing on their hanging gyms (or a few covertly fluttering to the ground to explore or to the neighbor’s gym to introduce themselves) to birds gleefully shrieking in anticipation of yummy food. Here’s a trio of African greys chowing down … you’ll notice that one gives the camera person a “shout out,” as if to say, “All’s good!”
