When Boo is wrapped up in a towel, Linda can't help taking some pictures.
Watch out when CooCoo says "I'm going to get you!"
Morgan likes towels — to snuggle with and destroy! (With supervision, of course.)
Muggsy means no offense when she calls you a "turd bird." She thinks it's a compliment!

On one of the e-mail bird lists I'm on, they were talking about things that their parrots say, which got me to thinking about some of the serious and silly things my own pet birds come up with ...
Silly Things Birds Say I was reminded of the time I spent the day cleaning in, around, behind, under ...well you get the idea. Some of my big macaw cages almost take a fork lift to move! Finally, the room the cages are in looked so pretty & debris free!!! Well, I was understandably tired after all that work! I put the sweeper away and then I turned around to admire once more how nice everything looked.
Morgan, my blue-and-gold macaw, must have thought all the cleaning I had just done was some kind of game I enjoyed because, while my back was turned, she shoveled food from her dish out all over the floor.
When I saw this new mess I exasperatedly said in a loud voice, [“What the heck?!”]*
After that, every time someone talked loud or Morgan sensed any stress in their voice she'd say (you guessed it), [“What the heck?!”]
Lesson learned! They're just like little kids. You gotta’ watch what you say around them! Today, my African grey Muggsy said, "Turd Bird!" My husband teasingly says to her on occasion. I asked her, "Who's a turd bird?"
She said, "You!”
I said “What?! Did you call your Mommy a turd bird?"
She answered, "Yeah!”
Again, lesson learned!
Silly Things Parrots Do I gave my blue-and-gold macaw, Boo, a good, drenching shower so she was soaked to the skin. She's been doing some feather picking and I've had her to the vet for tests. There's no medical reason for it so I am trying to bath her more often in hopes it will help!
When I wrapped a towel around her as she sat on her perch, she kept it on and I couldn't resist taking this picture. How many parrots will sit still for a photo session all wrapped up like Darth Vadar or the Grim Reaper? Morgan loves towels to rub her beak on. She seems to love the different textures of any material she can get close to. But what she really loves best is attacking a big bath towel. It is not like she is afraid of them — it's more like a game for her.
I always supervise to make sure she doesn't get tangled up from loose strings during her towel attacks!
Serious Things Parrots Say And Do My birds love music. They'll sing along with most anything except when I start to sing. They will immediately — even from another room — holler, “Quiet!” or "Shut up!" They're giving me a complex, otherwise I'd think it was funny! My Blue-crown conure, CooCoo, loves to ask, "Gimme kiss?" but seconds later he'll be squawking, "I'm gonna’ get ya’!" All in good fun, of course. But I'm sure little “Needle Beak” could get me good if he really wanted to! I just love my birds. They bring a lot of fun into my life. I'll bet yours do, too.
Feel free to share some of those things they do that keep you smiling and check out my video!
