Bird Lost & Found

"I've lost my bird!"
Has your bird gotten out of its cage and flown off? Don’t panic! If your bird is visible, bring its cage, favorite toys and other items outside. Call to your lost bird and entice it to return to you with its favorite treats. If you have other birds, bring them out in carriers or flight harnesses and allow them to call for the lost bird.

"I found someone's bird..."
If you have found a wayward bird, examine it for injuries or take it to an avian vet for a medical exam. If you own birds, separate the found bird in a different room until you can bring it to a vet. Quarantine periods typically last for 30 to 45 days. The found bird might be exhausted, so offer it plenty of food and water and give it time to rest. Do what you would hope someone who found your lost bird would do. Post fliers for the lost bird in your local pet stores and take out a classified ad.
