5 Messy & Healthy Foods Your Pet Bird Will Love

Get your sponge ready for these irresistible, messy foods that your pet bird will love to devour.

By Brian Meade

A pomegranate, corn on the cob, apple, bean and almond smoothie might not exactly be hitting market shelves anytime soon, but that doesn’t stop many pet birds from trying to create their own! After a hearty meal, a pet bird’s food and water bowls might resemble a cooking experiment gone wrong, but finding those certain healthy and irresistible foods pet birds love makes it all worth while.

Great article. My birds are pretty good about beans and corn on the cob, but I sure agree about the rest! The things I dread feeding them are mashed potatoes and winter squash. A sponge is not enough, you need your washing machine.

My new Avian vet told me Parrots can eat anything I eat except chocolate or one fruit. I've given him fruits and vegetables raw and cooked, cooked chicken, nuts, raisin bread. He loves Pringles Honey Stix and Graham cracker sticks. Corn on the cob I haven't tried yet.

I would skip the pomegranates stains the wall, the floor, the carpet. I do also give cherries and grapes
