The 34th Annual American Federation of Aviculture (AFA) convention takes place in St. Louis, Missouri, at the St. Louis Renaissance Hotel, July 30 to August 2, 2008. The theme of this year’s convention will be “The Celebration Of Birds.” There will be more than 30 speakers from all over the world, including lectures from parrot behaviorist Mattie Sue Athan and Jean Pattison, known as The African Queen.

“The AFA convention is a great way find out what’s going on in the bird community,” said Laura Doering, editor for BIRD TALK magazine and BirdChannel.com, who will be at the convention.

“You can hear what experts say about trends in the avian community, new research and learn about parrots in the wild. It’s an intimate setting with bird experts from around the world,” added Doering.

A banquet concludes the event on Saturday. For the full convention schedule, click here
