A Look Back On Zeus

Find out how Zeus was “hatched” and meet the artist who brings our favorite animated parrot to life

Zeus has been making readers laugh for nearly five years since his debut as BIRD TALK magazine’s first serial comic.

The idea for Zeus hatched when cartoonist Dan Thompson approached BIRD TALK. “I sent bird cartoons to the editors. They gave me a call and asked if I would be interested in creating a monthly cartoon,” said Thompson. “They asked me to think up a list of names for our feathered hero, and Zeus was the first name I wrote down because a bird like him needed a name that commanded greatness. But I can’t take all the credit for Zeus. The editors I’ve worked with have played a large role in shaping who he is.”
