Researchers finds the virus that causes PDD

Resreachers discuss PDDThree groups of researchers working independently have announced significant advances in our understanding of Proventricular Dilatation disease (PDD). Investigators in San Francisco and New York have identified the presence of a unique virus, Avian Bornavirus, in the tissues of PDD-affected birds. Investigators at the Schubot Center at Texas A&M University have been able to grow this agent and have developed a diagnostic test for the infection.
