The 30-Second Parrot Toy

Got 30-seconds? Make this fun and no-cost toy for your pet bird.

The 30-second toy

Parrots love to destroy their toys; to keep up with demand, here’s a toy that is so easy to make, it only takes 30 seconds!

Materials
Paper Cup
Shredded Paper
Twine/Leather rope
Napkin
Coffee Stirrer/Wooden sticks

First, take the cup, and make a slit on both sides to slide in a wooden coffee stirrer (or colorful sticks). Stuff the cup with some brightly-colored shredded paper and cover the cup with a napkin. Wrap twine (or leather strips) around the rim of the cup, to hold down the napkin, and use the extra piece of twine to tie to two ends. And you’re done! Hang the toy in your pet bird’s cage and watch it have fun!

You’ll know if the toy is hot when your parrot gives you the ultimate compliment —complete destruction (in 30 seconds)!

I just used the coffee cup and tied a leather rope around it a couple of times. My grey enjoyed throwing it on the floor and eventually completely destroyed the coffee cup.

Easy to make toy ideas are fabulous, however the way the leather is tied to the cup can be dangerous. Toy safety needs to be the first priority of any toy. Rather than using loops, simply tie the leather through holes on each side of the cup. This eliminates the loop around the top of the cup.

Brilliant idea! Great way to "recycle." Keep the suggestions coming; thank you, BirdTalk!
