Feather-damaging behavior (FDB) is an enigma to avian veterinarians and bird owners alike. While many causes and solutions have been proposed, this behavior — or misbehavior — often defies explanation or resolution. I use the term feather-damaging behavior rather than feather plucking or picking, because there are many types of FDB, other than just picking.
