In the August 2008 issue, BIRD TALK published an article about the internet viral sensation Oscar, the featherless Moluccan cockatoo (“Faces of PBFD: ‘The Survivor’”). Oscar lives at the Broward County Humane Society (BCHS) in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., where she has enjoyed a fairly normal life for more than 14 years despite having psittacine beak and feather disease (PBFD).
