The word is out. Commit a crime against an animal in Broward County, Florida, and you’ll be prosecuted. Lieutenant Sherry Schlueter, who commands the Special Victims and Family Crimes Section at the Broward County Sheriff’s Department, will make sure of it.
Schlueter has been an animal advocate for as long as she can remember. She and her sisters grew up with a houseful of pets in Ft. Lauderdale. “We had a blue-headed Pionus named Pedro,” she remembered. “We had parakeets too and loved to feed the wild birds outdoors.”
