The phrase “Good things come in small packages” has probably been uttered by a lineolated parakeet owner once or twice. With plenty of spunk and charm, lineolated parakeets (or “linnies” as they are more affectionately called) are the small bird of choice for pet bird lovers looking for a unique pet.
One of the smallest of all parrots, the lineolated parakeet (Bolborhyncus lineola) is also known as the barred parakeet or Catherine’s parakeet. These natives of Mexico and South and Central America still remain relatively unknown to some, but they are gaining increased popularity as pets in the United States.
