Create your own bird-friendly cleansers

Bird-Safe Cleaning Solution RecipesSpray cleaner: Mix 1 teaspoon borax, 2 tablespoons white vinegar and 2 cups hot water. Mix and fill a spray bottle for an easy multiple-purpose cleanser.

Scouring powder: Place baking soda in a bowl. Dampen a sponge and use it to scoop up some baking powder. Baking soda works great scrubbing down perches and cage bars.

Disinfectant scouring powder: Mix 1 cup baking soda with ¼ cup of borax. Apply the solution with a sponge or brush and then rinse well.

Disinfectant: Mix ½ cup borax, ¼ cup white vinegar and 2 gallons hot water. Wash with a mop or sponge. Rinse thoroughly

Vinegar mold killer: Use white vinegar to scrub areas with mold. Rinse well.

Here is a solution for cleaning the oven.

Mix the following in a spray bottle:

2 oz. Dawn dishwashing liquid
4 oz. lemon juice
8 oz. white vinegar
10 oz. water

Spray the racks and inside the oven. Wipe after leaving on the surface for a few hours or overnight. The baked on grease and food just flake off.

*Test before using on delicate surfaces. This is powerful stuff.

Nothing kills germs, dried food and dried poop better than using my compact fabric steamer. Only pure water, no chemicals, no scrubbing. Only a quick wipe with a clean wash cloth. Uses very little water too. Absolutely no waste. The steam works instantly so that I don't have to waste time.
