Experts tell you all about their avian occupations

Bird lovers share their avain careersSometimes the love of bird pays,  literally! Many bird owners hold jobs away from their pets, but other enthusiasts have found a way to make birds part of their careers. Eight avian experts shared their experiences working in the world of birds. 

1. Avian Veterinarian
Kenneth Welle, DVM, Diplomate ABVP (Avian), knew in kindergarten that he wanted to be a veterinarian. Welle now lives his dream as owner of All Creatures Animal Hospital in Urbana, Ill., and has practiced veterinary medicine for 20 years. All of Welle’s patients are exotic animals, and 50 percent are birds.
