They may not be parrots, but they're great pets!

Other types of birds can make great pets as wellParrots might be popular, but birds like doves, pigeons, finches, canaries and softbills have something to offer, too! These birds are a delight to own — though the softbills might be hard to find!

Made famous by being the inspiration for the mascot of a popular cereal, toucans are softbill birds native to tropical America. They are not birds that talk, but they have a call, that, in the wild, can be heard for miles. Largely known for their long colorful beaks, toucans come in a variety of species, the largest and most recognized being the toco toucan.
